West Pier Art Studio
In 2008 McLeod came to Howth Harbour and set the West Pier Art Studio. His initial aim was to explore the marine history, geography and community of the Howth Peninsula. In this time, he has researched and documented the aural meta-histories of Howth’s lobster men. He subsequently produced a diptych of vernacular sea charts of the Howth Peninsula and Harbour, documentaries and visual responses to harbour life. In the later half of 2017 McLeod will set about on new research exploring Medieval Dublin, based on commentary, drawings, maps found in manuscripts in Marshes library and the Royal Irish Academy. He aims to generate working maps and sea charts from this time with particular reference to individuals from the medieval period.
